Knox Energy Inc. (“Knox”) is a natural gas and crude oil exploration and production
company located in suburban Columbus, Ohio.  It specializes in natural gas production,
primarily within Ohio.  In addition, Knox provides operational and technical services on a
contract basis, with regard to exploration and production, pipeline construction and
operation, land contract services, and natural gas marketing.  Knox also specializes in
the custom design of investment vehicles related to the natural gas industry.
Mark D. Jordan founded the company in late 1998.  In its first year, Knox acquired
approximately 200 producing wells and another 150 wells for equipment salvage and
well refurbishment.
In its second year of operations, a new division known as Berry Well Service was
formed to provide oilfield services.  This enabled Knox to service and refurbish its own
wells and offer oilfield services to other oil and gas producers.  Knox’s field operations
are conducted out of its Gratiot, Ohio, office located 10 miles west of Zanesville.
In that same year, Knox developed its natural gas marketing abilities by creating a
natural gas pool on Dominion East Ohio, thus allowing Knox to sell gas directly to Ohio
industrial customers, in northeast Ohio.
Since its inception, Knox has drilled over 280 wells, including 44 wells in 2009 and
currently operates approximately 480 wells.  In addition, Knox owns and operates five
service rigs and other oilfield equipment.  Knox currently employs approximately 45
people.
